Got milk?

"Bonjour Mme (H)ideg, Comment-allez vous?"
"Très bien merci, et vous?"
"Oui, très bien aussi. Je m'appelle Françoise et je vous appelle de La Maison du Bon Vin à Bordeaux. Aimez-vous le bon vin?"
"Non."
::pause::
"Et pourquoi ça, madame?"
"Parce que je suis américaine, on n'aime pas le vin."
"Oh... "
::Elle comprend toute de suite::
"Et qu'est-ce que vous mettez sur la table quand vous avez des invités?"
"Du lait."
::pause::
"Du lait?"
"Oui, madame. Du lait. Merci de votre appel."

Very good, thanks. And you?

::pause::
Might I ask why not?
Because I'm American, and we don't like wine.
Oh...
::understands::
and what do you serve when you have guests over?
Milk.
::pause::
Milk?
Yes, madame, milk. Thanks again for you call.

tex mex- key west

Last night we had tex-mex night chez natalie. since alex (dollybird) is from texas, she had a fabulous enchilada receipe from her grandmother. so we gathered all the dollybirds (yes, somehow this includes oscar), their men and honorary guest/roommate aurore for this festive evening. i was in charge of the guacamole- because mashing avacadoes and adding the mix is real hard, that takes talent. alex took care of the enchiladas and oscar manned the refried beans. the soirée was complete with corona, at only 8.89 euros for a six-pack! (not counting the fact that i got double charged, but we wont talk about that.)

some people might not share our excitement of tex mex night. but if you lived in caen, france, you would understand. lets just say the only "tex mex" restaurant in the city is called "key west"- doesnt inspire confidence, does it?
